Analogix Introduces Battery-Preserving Internal Display Translators for Tablets and Notebooks
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Analogix Semiconductor, Inc., a leader in DisplayPort-based interconnect technologies, today introduced its line of power-efficient display translator devices that convert a system platforms’ DisplayPort™ output to existing single or dual LVDS embedded screens. (see diagram)
Compliant with DisplayPort version 1.1a and embedded DisplayPort (eDP) at link rates of up to 2.7Gbs, the Analogix ANX1120 and ANX1121 chips allow for the development of battery-optimized, cost-effective Intel Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge and other CPU platforms.
“Tablet and notebook makers are in the midst of a major technology shift - CPUs are removing legacy LVDS interfaces and replacing them with embedded DisplayPort in order to reduce pin count,” said Andre Bouwer, vice president of marketing for Analogix. “However, the transition to DisplayPort-ready panels will take a few years, creating an immediate market need for the battery-optimized Analogix’ DisplayPort to LVDS converters for manufacturing flexibility.”
The Analogix ANX112x product line of highly-integrated display translators share the benefits of special circuitry for content protection, key panel control features for seamless system integration, panel dimming, and the implementation of power saving modes to reduce overall system battery consumption.
The ANX1120 is ideal for laptops, All-in-Ones and industrial embedded systems, while the ANX1121 sports a smaller footprint for tablets and ultra-light notebooks as well as a built-in MCU with internal or external EEPROM options, and built-in oscillator to complement its super low-power VESA-compliant DisplayPort1.1a receiver, which draws around 100mW at HD resolutions. Key features of both products are listed below.
